Details:

Rhinestone Cowgirl: A Tribute to Dolly Parton, featuring The Wayward Wind is a toe-tapping tribute to the rags to riches, to ‘rhinestone cowgirl’ -- the country music legend, Dolly Parton. Much loved for her Patsy Cline tribute concerts, Leisa Way literally erupts onto the stage in a flurry of feathers, fringe and bejewelled finery in her new concert, Rhinestone Cowgirl: A Tribute to Dolly Parton. This fabulous concert is designed to leave audiences amazed, hugely entertained and clamouring for more. The one liners, and commentaries Way delivers throughout the tribute are entertaining and hilarious.

However, audiences have found that the real magic lies in hearing Way sing Dolly''s songs, so Leisa and her band were inspired to go into the studio and record this album. Backed up by a terrifically talented band which includes: Bruce Ley, Dave Wilson, Randall Kempf, Kim Ratcliffe and Aaron Solomon, Way sings hits from every era of Parton''s career, including: 9 to 5, I Will Always Love You, Jolene, Two Doors Down, Here You Come Again, Coat of Many Colours, Islands in the Stream and Why''d You Come In Here Looking Like That. A highlight of her live concerts is when the band unplugs their instruments and joins Way downstage for an acoustic section, which includes Tennessee Mountain Home and Muleskinner Blues. There is a timeless feeling about this musical moment that leaves the audience breathless.

This album really is a labour of love, as Ms. Way is a life-long fan of Dolly Parton. As a little girl, Leisa felt a kinship with Dolly because Leisa grew up in the small town of Copper Cliff, a tiny mining town in northern Ontario, Canada. and she sang every waking hour, nearly driving her family crazy. When Leisa first started talking about doing this tribute to Dolly, most people’s eyes would flick down to Leisa’s considerably smaller chest and laugh. But Leisa’s dream of paying tribute to Dolly continued to drive her. Leisa says, “I don’t sound like Dolly and I certainly don’t have her ‘attributes’, but what I do have in common with Dolly is that we are both small town girls, both five foot nothing, who dreamed of one day sharing our music with audiences. I feel a great connection to Dolly as a person. She has a great heart, and a great spirit. It means the world to me to share with audiences some of my favourite songs that have been recorded by this legendary star”.
