Afterthought is composed of three of the most unique musicians you will ever hear. All with the same love and ear for this self-defined "Jazzgrass" music, this trio includes Derek Brown (saxophones, flute, penny whistles), David Youngman (guitar, mandolin), and Michael Youngman (electric bass). All three musicians developed this album during their collegiate studies of Classical and Jazz as well as their own experiments with sound and unconventional instrumentation. Typically when you hear words like unique and unconventional, especially with a group with Jazz influences, you often will find their music more "outside" or dissonant. Not so with Afterthought. Though they use dissonance to their advantage, their music is largely joyful, fresh, bright, and exciting! Just listen to this music and let your spirit be renewed.
