In the Bible, Job is known for his patience. But there is also a lot of suffering in Job, and one can only imagine how depressed he was at times!
I wrote this song for someone who has been depressed her whole life and who has never felt able to seek help. I also wrote it for myself: It is hard to love chronically depressed people because their condition keeps them from participating fully in their relationships with others. Depression directly afflicts millions of people worldwide, and the friends and family of the depressed person also suffer the deep pain and frustration of not being able to alleviate the suffering of their loved one.
In my song I decided to speak of this theme by placing the conversation between the depressed person and the singer on the telephone, emphasizing the feeling of distance between the two people but also the singer''s desire to connect. In the bridge of the song, the singer expresses how deeply she knows and empathizes with her friend''s experience, and by the end she offers the hope that by "talking about it" a resolution may be achieved. This song is dedicated to sufferers of depression and their families everywhere.
