Was established in Detroit in the mid 1880’s as the Detroit Citadel Band
We moved to Dearborn Heights in 1972 at which time the name was changed
Throughout the more than 120 years since its formation, the band has developed and maintained
A high degree of musical proficiency
Though amateur musicians, we work hard to maintain a high standard
Band members give their musical ministry as an act of devotion and consecration without monetary remuneration
They buy their own uniforms and pay dues to help defray the cost of music and instrument repair and replacement
They believe God will use their service, and that this band will continue to be known as a band with a message
Each member of the band is a member of the church and gives their time and talents to further the mission of
The Salvation Army
The primary ministry of the band is its participation as part of the musical support for the worship
and outreach ministry of
The Dearborn Heights Citadel Salvation Army.
The proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ has been the band’s top priority throughout its history, and testimony
can be given to the effectiveness of its long and faithful ministry of sharing God’s love and forgiveness through music.
