Details:
In his debut as a solo artist, BC (formerly of Tampa Hip Hop group RedTide) produced the first of a trilogy called Time Pieces. Part 1, The Time Capsule EP, established the framework of BC’s metaphorical Pop World, a futuristic, dystopian tale, allegorically referencing the politics of today. The grim reality of Pop World is told through the voice of the chrono-archaeologist, a time traveler, stranded in our present, desperately trying to warn us of the impending consequences of our folly. A time in which the widening gap between the haves and the have nots is literal, with the rich hovering in opulent floating cities over the masses of the poor, forced to eke out an existence on the ever decaying surface.
In this second episode of the Time Pieces trilogy, our protagonist, the chrono-archaeologist chronicles The Surface. He fixes his gaze squarely on the struggle of those forced to survive amidst the diminishing of democracy, the rise of corporate power, ever increasing pollution, recession, and minimal health care both present and future. From British Petroleum, to the eventual corporatocracy, and the jailing of government whistleblowers, to robotic sentries that hover over Pop World slums, the chrono-archaeologist presents us with a future that is less hopeful with each passing second. Can his mere words avert catastrophe and return him to a verdant world or is Pop World our destiny? The future is up for grabs. Stay tuned for The Sky.
