Details:
The songs from this solo recording, Acousticana, are primarily acoustic guitar and vocal offerings, with a sprinkle of banjo on a couple tunes. Servant’s Song is an autobiographical ditty, addressing the foibles, fun, and fatigue of being a dad. Summer is dedicated to a special mountain in North Carolina, where Bruce has spent many summers working at Camp Highlander. Blindside taps into a darker mood. The Woods, is an ecologic project; I Don’t Mind was written during the recording of the album, and was included to add a touch of Montana spirit to the effort. Coyote is, well, as you might expect, a song written from their point of view. I thought of naming it Wild Coyotes, but, isn’t that a bit redundant? Have you ever seen a tame one? Anyway, Follow Me, is a tune that was written, literally, a half lifetime ago, when I was young and foolish (now, I’m older and more foolish). Ten is a salute to a few of the many places I’ve called home, with the trump card being thrown in the last refrain…the best is yet to come, I believe. Only Yesterday deals with a difficult topic—suicide. Sometimes it’s tough to figure out why somebody would leave you that way, and I suppose chucking out a song helped me to deal with this particular mess. Words Won’t Do was written as a tribute to friendship, and as a show of support for a couple going through tough times. Bruce Cockburn said it best, when he wrote, “Dying trees still grow greener when you pray.” God Bless, and thanks for taking the time to read all this. Now, go listen to the CD. Cheers!
