Life is too busy and too cluttered by distractions that divert our attention toward concerning ourselves with what we do rather than discovering who we are. We live in a world of manic Monday mornings in which we are constantly preoccupied by the apparent necessity of climbing a ladder whose rungs become more and more narrow as we move toward the top. The climb itself entices, and the allure of that which we see up ahead so often keeps us reaching relentlessly higher in an exhausting effort to reach the summit. This climb is an illusion of grandeur; it is a mirage designed to distract us from all willingness to look inside ourselves and uncover the reasons for the distraction.
Starting Tuesday is about being willing to step out and be freed from the unattainable standards that cripple our consciences and steal our minds, wills, and time; it''s about letting go of the metaphorical Monday to which we have grown so accustomed and training our eyes to look away from the distractions in order to see truth.
Each day we walk out our doors to be met by an onslaught of movement. Society teaches us that if we''re not moving in some productive direction, we are choosing a path of failure. We often make this movement our life''s goal, without concerning ourselves with the methods by which we move. Eventually we can get so caught up in the means that we forget both the reasons for the beginnings and the purposes of the ends. In doing so, we both consciously and subconsciously turn life into a cyclical series of stepping stones. We are told to climb, but we were made to walk.
