Ah, Stylus. A band pushing the boundaries of pop rock while tipping its hat to the roots of rock and roll.
Created in Chicago in September of 2000, Stylus consists of JJ Sandvig (vocal, guitar), Brett Semenske (bass, vocal), and Dave Lill (drums). Each member''s background and influence combine to produce a unique sound that is powerful yet intimate, intricate yet subtle. After spending several months honing their skills at local Chicago venues, the band released its self-titled debut album. Over the next two years, Stylus developed an energetic live presence, finding it''s own style while attracting larger and larger crowds. Signing on with Chicago''s Shoeshine Boy Productions in 2002, Stylus hoped to further its presence on the Chicago Music scene. It did.
In the summer of 2003, Stylus went back to the studio to record new material. The new CD, titled "Modus Mundi", was written as an album not just a collection of songs, showcasing Stylus'' undeniable musical skill, raw talent, and creativity. The lyrics on "Modus Mundi", (Latin for Way of the World) explore themes of self-discovery and soul searching with enough cryptic phraseology to relate to every listener. The lyrics and melody coupled with the sometimes loud, sometimes soft rhythm, results in a dramatic, near orgasmic experience, complete with introduction, climax, and resolution.
Currently, Stylus is playing local Chicago clubs and booking regional and college shows to promote the new record. In addition, Stylus believes in a strong web presence and is promoting the album through commercial websites and the official band site, https://www.tradebit.com.
