The Sparta Philharmonic was formed in 1998 in Sparta, NJ by brothers Greg and Alex Bortnichak. We played a lot of shows, went through a lot of gear, released one e.p. ("Snapshots of A Life Lived on Weekends") and one very rare single ("Polaroid Negatives"), and then took a two year hiatus. Greg did a record with The Metal Hearts, and two with Richard Cortez, then more shows... Alex became a pilot and a damn-fine place-kicker. Now, we''re moving -Arizona and Baltimore probably, so we are back in action -playing shows and finishing our first full-length, "Paper-Mache Mountains," which is tenatively set to be released on July 21st, 2006.
