Details:
This Post Punk/Shoegazing 4-piece from Indianapolis, Indiana has taken it upon themselves to bring the dream drone sounds of the early 90’s to Marion County, Indiana. With screaming guitars, lashing percussive grooves, and a lyrical honesty as challenging and evocative as their passionate performance style, Uncertainty will have a massive impact.
When asked about the band’s name, frontman and guitarist Cyrus Youngman replied, “Everything we believe about the universe is operating in the shadow of Uncertainty. Friendships, employment, true love, religion, the future of our economy, and the age old mystery of post death are only a few examples that come to mind. Even today’s leading scientists are at a loss when asked directly, ‘Is life an illusion?’. Like the Buddhists and members of many other Eastern Religions, I myself, have become uncertain about the integrity of my own reality at times. This overarching uneasiness worked its way into my songwriting and thus, the band was born.”
Cyrus has been in a variety of bands over his years in high school and college. In 9th grade, his hardcore band, The Hope Remains, won Madison County’s battle of the bands competition and went on to play with signed acts such as Gwen Stacy, Life Ruiner, and Eyes Set To Kill. In 11th grade, he recorded an acoustic folk demo of original songs and held his place as Indiana’s 2nd most popular unsigned folk artist on the MySpace Music Charts for 3 weeks. During his first year of college, he formed the group Wendy And The Lost Boys and won first place in Teetering For Tots Battle Of The Bands Competition.
During a review of Uncertainty’s upcoming demo, “Patterson Day” bestowed this accolade upon the group. “I don’t know how you guys pulled it off. It’s as if you fused my favorite music from the 90’s with something more modern and cutting edge.”
