Multi-talented singer, songwriter, arranger and producer Chris Epps grasped the transforming power of music early in life. With his mother’s admiration of soulful balladeers and his father’s diverse musical palate, it’s no wonder why Chris developed his delightfully eclectic musical styling at a very young age. Growing up on Long Island, New York, Mr. Epps was exposed to a host of musical influences and encouraged to experiment with multiple instruments. However, it was in junior high school that he discovered his true passion: singing and songwriting. "When I became cognizant of the positive impact a soul-stirring and sincere voice with melodic tones can have on a person, I fell in love with my craft,” explains Chris. This personal awakening led him to focus on his own voice, both literally as a singer and figuratively through his expressive writing.
Under the tutelage of powerhouse vocalist Melonie Daniels, Mr. Epps tirelessly continued to hone his vocal skills. All of this success and vision eventually culminated in the 2005-launch of his own production company, X-Factor Entertainment. That same year, Chris made his solo debut before a sold-out audience in Jacksonville, FL, establishing his arrival as a future star.
With the support of his new production company and a dedicated fan base, Chris has taken his work abroad, performing, producing and co-producing an array of concert series. For two consecutive years, Chris was a featured headlining artist in the musical concert event “More Than A Song,” performing alongside the likes of poet-songwriter Natalie S. Walker, accomplished operatic tenor Marvin Scott and gospel heavyweight Melonie Daniels.
Chris’s creative fire remains bright with his debut release full-length album, “Here I Am…” in Spring 2011 which has created a buzz among the music industry, his loyal fans and music critics alike. "Writing and arranging the music on my debut release “Here I Am…” has been most therapeutic for me personally and artistically," he says. "This was one of the first times that writing and arranging music became second nature and wasn’t forced—God just spoke to me so clearly once I removed myself from the outside noise. Although I wrote/co-wrote all of the music myself, when I listen to the completed body of music I find yet another revelation which challenges and encourages me to grow in my faith and as a person. If nothing else, that’s the connection I want people to walk away with after hearing my music.”
The music of Chris Epps expresses an unmistakable and much-needed faith, offering healing power that flows through the love of God and showcases our best selves. "I realize my ministry is designed for those who feel, or have been made to feel, as if they’re lost and forgotten, which is not so. When I see people I see myself and when people see and hear my music I want them to see themselves wherever they may be in life and know that if I can make it out, so can you. I want this project to be the light in all the dark places of life and be the hope that will bring about change and prosperity. That’s my prayer.”
