Tia has been singing since the tender age of three. Tia and her family attended B.M. Oakley Memorial Church of Philadelphia under the Pastoral of the late Irene Oakley as well as the current Pastor Maria Gardner. Tia now serves at Voice of Praise Worldwide Ministries where her mother, Pastor Alice Martin, now shepherds. Church was a very important ingredient in Tia’s life it helped cultivate her many gifts which include but aren’t limited to singing, acting, dancing and songwriting. Growing up Tia has been blessed to sit under various gospel artists such as the late great Marion Williams of the Clara Ward singers, Mattie Moss Clark, Twinkie Clark, John P. Kee and Kirk Franklin just to name a few. Tia attended Bethune Cookman College where she studied a range of musical types i.e. Jazz, Classical, Hip Hop, Neo Soul, Contemporary & Traditional Gospel.
Tia’s God given gift to sing afforded her the opportunity to work with many established and well known secular artist which include Will Smith, and DJ Jazzy Jeff, Kenny Lattimore, Lauryn Hill, Tatyana Ali, and Philly’s Boyz II Men just to name a few. Tia was also an artist on Atlantic records where she continued to encounter countless others who were established in the secular industry. As a result, she even reconciled with a longtime friend and classmate known as Bilal and traveled from city to city, state to state and country to country. In the midst of these accomplishments she has experienced many failures. Her failures eventually led her into a deep depression. This depression was accompanied by suicide thoughts and attempts. During this time God ministered to Tia regarding where she was and the impact of the music she was writing and producing. It was at this time she learned about the power of music and its positive or negative impact. To show her this God confronted her with her and her own music. As a result Tia decided to leave the secular world and committed herself to uplifting the name of Jesus Christ and being that positive empowering voice. God favored her to get out of her contract with Atlantic Records and the strength to reject offers from other well known record labels including Roc-a-Fella Records and Warner Brothers. Throughout Tia''s journey she has experienced the ups and downs of church, relationships, marriage ,life, and the "music industry" at least until she discovered the true power of music and most of all the Power of God. Once this power was discovered God opened doors and for her to be able to express her passion for music and the God of the Music.
Tia has appeared in various stage plays; “Why Do Good Girlz like Bad Boyz”, “Ain’t That Just Like the Saints” and is presently the feature in a new Gospel hit stage play called “Behind The Scenes”.
Tia has been blessed to work with many highly esteemed artists on this side of the spectrum as well, musicians, songwriters and producers such as Da’ Truth (Open Book and Live DVD), Tye Tribbett, Prayz 1, Twyse, Michelle Bonilla, The Cross Movement, Bishop Evans (Healed Without Scared) The Bishops Choir, Freddy Washington Jr., Wilmington Chester Mass Choir (It’s Not Over), Chico Robinson & Gods Chosen, the phenomenal Alice Martin and last but certainly not least the anointed brother and cousin Min. Chris Graham and many more.
Tia Pittman is highly motivated to accomplish her purpose, driven by her desire to please God and destined to succeed. God has allowed this Soulster (minister to the soul) to experience these things so that she can effectively and passionately minister to the mind, body and soul of those who are searching for an answer and show them that the only answer is Jesus Christ. The songs that ring from the mouth of this anointed woman are songs of experience but most importantly deliverance. Family is very important to Tia. She is the proud mother of four beautiful children: Tasjon, Taylor, Brian Jr. and Christopher who she prays will grow to also be anointed disciples for Christ.
