“Fire Within” is a song by Bethany Hamilton and her friend Natalie Rogers. Bethany is known for surviving a shark attack in which she lost her left arm, and for overcoming the serious and debilitating injury to return to surfing. Inspired by faith in God, determination and hope; this song has a musical drive and lyric message that Bethany wants to impart to the world. Natalie Rogers, who sings the song, is a longtime friend of Bethany. She is a visual artist and musician, on the verge of breaking through to a large audience with her unique blend of influences. Bethany felt that the song “Fire Within” would fit perfectly in the movie that documents her dramatic story and inspirational message; “Soul Surfer." Coincidently, just as Bethany and Natalie were searching for a way to record their song, a family friend who is in the music business was visiting Kauai. Kristin Wilkinson, that friend, came from Nashville, heard the song and agreed to co-produce it with Tim Lauer a frequent collaborator. The harp and vocals are performed by Natalie. The Bible verse that Bethany recites, 2Timothy 1:7 is a verse that Bethany gathers much strength from.
