Details:
One Shot Down started out of the desire to write, produce, record and perform original music, instead of simply covering other people''s music or catering to the "What''s Happening Now" spirit of popular music today. OSD wants to cross musical genres and influences to create a musical experience for anyone and everyone. The band truly desires to break new ground personally, creatively and figuratively. OSD has been together in some form for many years. The three founding members, Dennis Purvis, Dustin Hayes and Nate Renfro had been playing together in the bars and dives of southeast Tennessee and north Georgia for quite a few years. Early in 2003, the three decided to combine forces and give a legitimate creative stab at writing and producing only original music. Chris Stanfield joined the fun on drums in early fall. The result was the release of "Pick a Side and Fight," an 8-track CD released in November 2003. Produced by the band and made for very little money, the CD sold well and created a following for the band. In late 2004, the band went back to the studio with producer Tyler Orr, former owner of Eleven Eleven Records, and came out with "Where We Are," an 11-song full-length album. The CD is slammed with groove and pure rock ''n roll. Shortly after the release of the album, guitarist Dustin Hayes left the band for personal and career-related issues. Mark Russell, formerly of the rock band Soulcrush, replaced him in the lineup. After penning a few more songs, the band returned to see Orr in the studio and record another album. The album was completed in December of 2005 and was titled One Act Show. The album sees the band expanding creatively and exploring new sounds and musical ideas. Hotspots on the album include "River", "Price", and "After the Fall", while more sensitive listeners will prefer the mellower heartbreak songs like "Good Enough" and "Everything Goes Away". An excellent listen for even the most discerning ear, One Act Show has something to appeal to everyone.
