Swagga’s Bio
Born Jessie Julius Holland Jr., on January 20, 1974 in Danville, VA, Swagga, better known as, "Ya High" found his inspiration for hip-hop at the age of 10 and became an official recording artist in the early 90’s. As a recording artist for over 12 years now, he has worked with several renowned artists and has gained a substantial amount of experience and maturity in the music industry throughout his experiences.
As a Recording Artist, Swagga has worked at studios throughout the east coast touching the perimeter of the dirty south – from New York to South Carolina. Throughout his music career he has been involved with several groups such as EMJ, Rocklords and Kings Without Treasures who was well known locally. During his affiliation with the Kings, Swagga started a record label (Code-Red Ent) in which they shot a video for their LP “Don’t Take It Personal” in the summer of 2001 and followed up with their debut album “Thy Kingdom Come,” which sold 10,000 units locally. Also, as a “King,” Swagga has produced several songs and performed in numerous shows and events from local talent shows to opening up for major acts such as Fat Joe, Wu Tang Clan, DAS EFX, Big Pun, EPMD and Onyx to name a few. Due to hardships and calamities, the “Kings” relationship ended bitter sweet and thereafter Swagga pursued his rap career as a solo artist. Swagga strikes the music industry with a 6 o’clock flow – straight up and down, to the point, lyrically raw, letting you know what’s on his mind, no gimmicks, no sugarcoating. Swagga is also a versatile M.C. catering his style to underground hip-hip, conscious rap and R & B music, hitting the industry with story lines that can’t be denied stemming from his past experiences dealing with poverty, drugs, and incarceration.
Although Swagga has endured substantial obstacles throughout his childhood he uses his music career to recount his past experiences and to liberate himself from the pressures of urban life. Swagga’s ultimate goal is to be a successful businessman & entepenuer.
