Band Bio
SHYAWAY is a high-energy, 4 piece performance rock & roll band based out of Louisville Kentucky. This indie-rock band started in 2008 and initially consisted of lead vocalist/ songwriter Chase Skinner and percussionist Steven Dowell. After much searching and repeated auditions bassist Clay Shepherd, and lead guitarist/ songwriter Hyder Busheri were added to complete SHYAWAY in August 2009.
The 4 together are a match made in musical heaven, an alliance that has lead to a number of projects. They play all original music that transcends age, gender and national boundaries adding value to the name SHYAWAY, creating a band identity, perfecting their unique musical style, building their band resume and developing a fan following.
SHYAWAY has been fortunate to share the stage with national acts such as Halestorm, Smile Empty Soul and 10 Years. They have had the privilege of working with some of the best promoters in the area, headlining and being featured at numerous local shows, music halls and clubs and selling out band ticket quotas, thanks to the support of their large local fan following. Their EP release ‘ON THE ROCKS’ has come to the attention of local radio stations in Louisville resulting in airplay for their empowering single ‘Game Over Rock Star’.
Their myspace website https://www.tradebit.com is up and running with 15000+ hits nationally and internationally. They are working with Brown Bag studios, a graphic art and design company, to brand themselves via promotional materials and merchandise offerings to their fans.
Their new album ‘Reckless Revival’ recorded with Hatfield Media releases on November 13th 2010. Louisville’s award winning promoter Terry Harper and Clear Channel Radio’s premiere rock station 93.1 The Fox have come together to support Shyaway in their debut album release at Headliners Music Hall. The new album includes 10 brand new never before heard songs.

Chase Skinner
Chase Skinner has used his music to connect physically and emotionally with fans, whether knuckle bumping with fans while onstage or jumping off stage to dance in the audience, his antics have sealed his reputation as a great performer with a heartfelt love for his fans. Being raised around music Chase says, “I don’t like to say I was raised on music I prefer saying, music itself raised me. I watched it bring my family and the people around me closer together and thought, I want my music to bring thousands of people together.”
Hyder Busheri
Hyder Busheri is a musical powerhouse of blistering riffs and soulful solos. His remarkable talent for blending musical styles from various generations, with a global spin, stems from his multi-cultural influences. Enraptured with rock and roll, he spent hours teaching himself to play on his father’s acoustic guitar. He first crossed paths with SHYAWAY in 2009 and life has never been the same! Hyder remembers, “That first jam session in Chase’s basement has been the start of a stellar rock and roll journey,”
Steven Dowell
Steven Dowell’s intense style, rhythm, power and versatility has been developed by spending most of his life behind his drum set, listening to some of his favorite bands and drummers and playing along with them in the privacy of his room. He has been influenced by all genres. It wasn’t until his first concert at the age of 14 where he saw Metallica and Godsmack that he realized music was what he wanted to dedicate his life to. “That one concert sparked the fire that has put me where I am today” says Steven. He says, “I saw myself living my dream and heading towards where I had wanted to reach many years ago”.
Clayton Shepherd
When Clayton Shepherd walks onto the stage, his sense of style and ownership of a bass guitar demonstrate that he can not only set the rhythm and tone in a song, but he can do it with unmistakable flair. Clayton Tallichet Shepherd first remembered admiring a bass guitar from the Beatles music video “A hard days night”. This sparked the long musical journey of discovery that has given Clay his ability to expand beyond the traditional roll of rhythmic bass into something more melodic, giving the song the support, strength and rhythm it needs, without overpowering it.
