Ok, so, HERE’S a challenge for you….

Write a bio on two individuals who, due to a true sense of modesty, would rather NOT that ANY bio be written for either of them…. AND, they’re entertainers.

Go figure, eh?

Another trait that Jenny Taylor Moodie and Mike Mercado have in common (and once you’ve listened to the music you’ll understand) is that they are both VERY talented individuals. So the unspoken question begs to be answered, ‘How did these two come together in the first place?’

Of all places – they met at a talent show.

You know, one of those quaint, church-sponsored affairs where all the hidden talents of the congregation get a rare chance for display and admiration?

Mike was in the audience when Jenny took the spotlight to perform a cool, jazz vocal. Needless to say, he was quite impressed! So much so that when the lights came up and the performers and audience had a chance to mingle, he approached her to ask just one question….

‘What are you doing here?’

Well, Mike, since the details are few, this much we CAN tell you.

She got there via California, Hawaii, Utah, Canada and Seattle, but not necessarily in that order.

Jenny Taylor Moodie grew up in Northern California with a love for music. So much so that she auditioned for a drama class when she was 14 and was prophetically told that ‘Your voice was made for theatre’.

And theatre she did. Going on to win college scholarships with her wonderful singing ability, she attended BYU-Hawaii and used that extensive experience in theatre productions in Canada and the Western United States.

Jenny’s favourite role is that of the quirky, funny character to be found in such notable productions as Audrey in the ‘Little Shop of Horrors’ and Frenchy in ‘Grease’. She is very much into Rock and edgier musicals, which explains how she ended up in Shoulda Coulda.

But how did Shoulda Coulda come to be?

Enter Mike Mercado.

The other half of Shoulda Coulda is as stingy with the details as Jenny.

Mike grew up as an Air Force ‘brat’, having had the opportunity to see, visit or live in nearly every quarter of the U.S. and Europe.

Having had a ‘life changing’ experience when he was 14, Mike KNEW that music and the guitar were for him!

He lived and breathed guitar from that time forward. His first ‘gig’ was to perform at his High School graduation at AFCENT (now AFNORTH), Brunssum, the Netherlands.

Later, in his college years, he was the nexus for the band ‘The Kick’ in the Phoenix, AZ area. His developing song writing skills led to the band’s first studio effort as well as his music’s first radio airplay on the Valley of Sun’s premier rock station, KDKB.

Over the years, Mike has dived into the emerging world of home recording with the advent of the digital audio workstation, and honed his engineering and producing skills.

Then came that crossing of two paths, when Mike heard Jenny sing. He was SO impressed, he just had to ask that question, ‘What are you doing here?’; translated, he was asking her, in so many words, ‘What’s a great voice like yours doing here and not in Los Angeles?’

Mike reports he knew THEN, that given the chance and the opportunity, he had to help the world hear that voice as he hears it.

So now you, too, can hear that incredible voice with the release of their first studio single, My Own Sweet Time.

She may have taken her own sweet time in finally making her first studio recording debut, but if you’re like everyone else, you’ll agree the wait for Jenny Taylor Moodie with Mike Mercado as Shoulda Coulda has been well worth it!
