The Rubys are a guitar-driven five piece band in the best traditions of Indie Rock; five hardworking lads from Manchester thats growing fast on both sides of the pond.
Based in Big Fish Studios, Ancoats, at the same studios as peers Kid British, the band used 2010 to complete a dynamic set that has become the focal point a limited series of dates 2011 that will take in legendary venues such as Night & Day and Band on The Wall, and will take in Festivals such as Friends of Mine (FomFest) at Capesthorne Hall, playing alongside The Buzzcocks, The Fall, The Charlatans, The Cribs, and more.
Starting with a series of intimate acoustic sets at band-friendly venues such as The Iguana Lounge, The Rubys closed out 2010 with Headline sets at Moho Live and The Manchester Academy, and support slots at Peter Hooks'' venue The Factory (supporting Supajamma), and The Deaf Institute (supporting The Paul Weller Bands'' Steve Pilgrim)
The Rubys returned to The Manchester Academy in a sell-out gig in February of this year, and currently featuring in The Surface Festival. Upcoming gigs include headlining gigs at Night Day Cafe, The Ruby Lounge, a Surface Festival slot at The Dry Bar, a slot at The Urmston Fiesta with The Rainband, whom they will support at a gig to be announced shortly.
Recent features on Terry Christians'' "Northerners With Attitude" show on Imagine FM, Jay Smiths'' New Music First show on https://www.tradebit.com and on Montys'' show on Salford City Radio have helped sustain the growing momentum behind The Rubys.
