The Ezra Beats are an Spanglish ''anti-folk'' band formed in Madrid by 3-piece non-conformists, AmyJo Doherty, Ross Stewart and Martin Dalla. In 2009, AmyJo and Ross met in Madrid and started playing music together. Sometime after they met Martin, who was asked to officially become the third member of the band, and started playing drums... The band was called ‘The Ezra Beats’ after poet''s Ezra Pound influence on beat generation and their love for shaking. Regular, oft-haphazard appearances in bars and venues around Madrid and Festivals across Spain have led to significant fanbase and coverage by their adopted country’s mainstream media and press (Rolling Stone, El País, El Mundo, TVE) which in particular focused on their bringing of cool ''indie punk-folk'' from London to Spain, because of their "notoriety for exciting, unpredictable, flamboyant live shows" in which crowd are encouraged to "bring their own percussion" and become part of the live set... The Ezra Beats also have toured in the UK + France and during this time, highlights have included playing with AmyJo’s brother, Peter Doherty.
