I am excited about sharing my life and musical experiences with you on my latest cd project called The Journey, a 12 song compilation written and produced by myself and my brother in law (Darius King). It features Gears in Motion, a phenomenal group of song writers, producers, and musicians. This project will explore various musical styles, genres and emotions. I count it a fortunate and blessed privilege to share these gifts with you; my greatest desire is that you experience God in what we do. Peace and blessing.

At the age of 10, Gary Lamar Baker realized that he wanted to play guitar and become a recording artist. He used to mimic motions and gestures like he was strumming and picking while pretending that his “Hot Wheels” tracks were guitars. His parents saw that he had an interest in music so they invested in his first toy instrument. The following year they purchased his first real electric guitar.
Gary was a fan of the radio. He listened to various artists like Chicago, Earth Wind and Fire, Queen, Focus, Kool and the Gang, Steely Dan to name a few. He was fortunate enough to meet a man by the name of Dennis Lionel Miller who was a well established guitarist that took time and interest in teaching him how to play. Dennis had a very informal way of teaching guitar. He would give Gary three chords to play and tell him to come back after he had learned them and gave him three more and so on.
After learning guitar chords through this process, Gary found himself being able to play just about any tune he heard on the radio. At about age 15, he was ready to join his first band to perform at local grade school and high school talent shows.
After exploring other avenues of music, he began learning how to write, compose and arrange which has developed over the years. That development has blossomed into the artistic creation that he calls The Journey.
What Gary does, he does as unto the Lord. He’s had quite the journey in his life and has chosen to share it with you.
