Details:
It takes a glance across the catalogues of Iron Maiden and Judas Priest, to the modern renaissance of British metal from the likes of Sikth, Sylosis, and Malefice to understand that the UK has been the epicenter for talent that turns the tides to a new direction.

Britain finally has answers to the worldwide stages, worthy of giving the best a run for their money. Bands have been born and died at the first few hurdles. Indeed many have been lost to the trials and tribulations of a struggling music scene,
but there are some that steps up to the challenge, no matter what. One set of poor souls come the deep south west of England in the form of Athura.

Formed in Plymouth, Devon in late 2008, Athura came together from the ashes of previous musical aspirations from founding members and guitarists Jon Heavens and Jezz Haddon. Coming together with a mutual love and understanding of the cornerstones of extreme metal from the likes of Strapping Young Lad, Sikth and Textures, they filtered their passion into a visceral, pounding juggernaut.

To fill the ranks, they sought the talent of David Giffard to provide powerful undertones in synths, Dave Fletcher on drums, Daniel Bache on bass guitars and finally Matt Chapman on vocals. In true form and through trial by fire, Athura set about to cement themselves in their local scene, nevertheless with targets set on bigger game.

This is a band that has not been without trials and tribulations, and without conflict. Already sharing the stage with bands like Malefice, Belphegor, Skeletonwitch and Warbringer, their hastened evolution has done nothing but to savour their palette for further achievement.

Born anew with the new 4 track Demo EP, and arsenal of new, more punishing riffs, they now set their targets on capturing the hearts of metalheads worldwide with careful melodic phrasing, punishing brutality and a vast arsenal of diverse influences and tastes.

They do not seek hype, they do not seek to reinvent the wheel, but to simply share their passion for one of the most intense, honest and purest forms of music.
