Details:
Pu$$y-Cow started on a bus trip to Vegas. At least, the idea of Pu$$y-Cow did. Joe Dana and Kevin “Flaco” Jones were a little tipsy when they got into the middle of a heated Rock Paper Scissor Tournament. Flaco had recently stopped playing for his old band. Joe had always been a fan of Flaco’s bass playing skills. They started talking about starting something together. They had no idea what would transpire. All they knew was that the band would be called, Pu$$y-Cow, which was a commonly heard mondegreen among Los Angeles children who witnessed a car salesman perform stunts and beg consumers to “Go See Cal” for the cheapest deal.
Joe had never sung for a real band before. His singing skills were limited to Karaoke and occasionally sitting in on a few drunken covers at various bars in Los Angeles. What he lacked in formal training, he made up for in starving for attention. Flaco took a chance on Joe and they started writing songs together in Joe’s living room in Echo Park. After writing about 4 or 5 songs together, Flaco suggested the eccentric and reclusive guitarist known as Chissum Worthington and Joe brought in his high school buddy, Danny Poulos on Drums.

Their first real practice together as a band proved that they could work together but it wasn’t until they started playing live that their skills shined through. Their songs were small short fast bursts of energy complete with solos and breakdowns with their longest song clocking in at a tad over two minutes and several of their songs not even being a minute long. They became famous for delivering a 14 song set in less than 20 minutes. The subject matter of the songs ranged from pop culture icons (Jello Biafra, Me & Ice T) or social commentary on relationships (the Same, Baby, I’d be your Stalker but I’m Afraid of Commitment) to just the absolutely absurd (Hope we don’t Suck). The band did all of this while being clad in Rhinestone Cowboy gear.

They were instantly accepted by the Kiss or Kill scene in Los Angeles. Through that scene they honed their sound into the powerhouse it is today.

After being together nearly five years, they have had the opportunity to open for such bands as The Muffs, Agent Orange, the Adicts, Toys that Kill, The Underground Railroad to Candyland and Off With Their Heads. They have played up and down California and in Las Vegas. They released their first record, Live at KXLU. Two releases will be released simultaneously this year: Ride and Drinky Birds
