Passionate and heartfelt, that is how Beth Luca lives life and leads worship. Her desire is to lead people into an authentic, life-changing encounter with the living God through worship and through her personal story of how God has moved mightily through the dark times in her life. “I want people to walk away from a worship encounter with a desperation, a need for more of God. I want them to be full but not satisfied.”
Beth has been leading worship for five years but began her journey towards music ministry long before she ever recognized God’s call upon her life. The daughter of a music teacher, she grew up in New Orleans, a city known for its rich musical heritage. Music gripped her heart at a very young age and never let go. The love of singing and performing was in her blood, and in 1993 with her parents’ encouragement, she auditioned and was chosen out of thousands for “Big Time TV”, a children’s variety show produced by the legendary Quincy Jones (Michael Jackson’s Thriller Album), Brandon Tartikoff, former President of NBC, and Emmy nominated producer David Salzman. The Pilot aired but was not selected for syndication. The following year Beth’s parents brought her to Nashville to record her first professional demo. It was on this trip that Beth knew Nashville was the place she would return to some day.
When she was 19, the Holy Spirit moved in her heart and Beth accepted Christ as her personal Savior. Over the next year, she served in the church singing in the choir and as a member of the praise team, as well as singing special music for both the adult and youth church services.
In October of 1999, Beth moved to Nashville under divine circumstances, when her job as an office assistant at an air freight company transferred her to the very place she always knew she wanted to be, “Music City.” In August of 2000, she took an internship at a small Christian music publishing company. It was there that she met a fellow aspiring musician named, Joby Luca. Six months later, the two began dating and in October 2004, they married. In 2005, Beth and Joby joined Cross Point Church in Nashville and Beth began serving in youth ministry as a small group leader as well as leading worship at the Wednesday night youth services. It was during the two years she worked with the youth that Beth discovered her love, passion and calling for leading worship.
As Beth has continued to lead worship, God has continued to open doors and provide opportunities for her to lead in this capacity. In January 2008, Cross Point Church opened its campus in Dickson, Tennessee and has since opened two more campuses in the Nashville area. Beth rotates through as a Worship leader at all four campuses as well as guest leading at several other churches in the Nashville area.
In early 2010, Beth began working on her debut, self-titled worship EP, a collection of five songs, one of which she wrote with her husband Joby. “We’ve both been through so much in our personal lives and whether the experiences have been good or bad, all have left us praising God. We wanted to do a project honoring Him and expressing how we’ve felt towards Him throughout these seasons and circumstances, as well as praising him for his faithfulness as we’ve watched him carry us through and be glorified every time.”
Beth’s transparency about her life experiences and God’s love and faithfulness pours out of her every time she steps in front of the microphone whether leading worship or sharing her story of God’s redemptive love and power.
