A long time musician, Bill Fanciullo recently decided it was time to publish.
His first album, "Once More With Feeling," was issued not long ago.
"The most difficult part of the process was deciding what to put on the album, and what to exclude - to save for future releases."
"Once More With Feeling" contains a fraction of his musical inventory, selected for an interesting listening experience.
The album is not all the same, but has different songs -- with different feelings -- interspersed to create greater interest and awareness, to put a smile on a face when the unexpected occurs. A dominant drum song, then piano, then a guitar or a synthesizer. Lulled by one track, awoken by the next.
"Connection" is Bill''s second published release.
It is comprised of the entire CD #46 of Bill''s inventory of approximately 65 CDs of original music.
"Connection" contains 15 songs constituting over 78 minutes of music.
It flows--one song to the next--but with frequent changes, different moods and emotions. Heavy drums here, a synthesizer there, sounds of strings, a horn, a guitar, etc. It is absorbing--new and interesting.
"All their songs sound the same" and "if you''ve heard one of their songs, you''ve heard them all," are often accurate criticisms that deter album buying. Those criticisms do not apply here.
Bill Fanciullo is a creative musician with roots in many genres.
Music is a large part of our culture. Music used to change almost daily, it seems. One day The Beatles, the next Jimi Hendrix, then Cream, The Doors, Bob Dylan, Janis Joplin, Santana, Led Zeppelin, Weather Report, etc. All different from what came before. Now we wait, search, listen and hope for bursts of creative expansion, new expression. These examples are just that: examples. There''s also Miles Davis, Jeff Beck (his 2010 album is great--maybe except for one song (I know: who am I to say such a thing?) --and its too short (that I can say)....), Al DiMeola, Jaco, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Billy Cobham; House of the Rising Sun, Machine Gun, In a Silent Way, Black Magic Woman (who wrote that?), Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick, Papa Was a Rolling Stone ("and when he died, all he left us was alone"), Stratus, Oh Well ("I can''t help about the shape I''m in, I can''t sing, I ain''t pretty and my legs are thin...."), et cetera. And that''s a big et cetera. I could go on (and on). Thousands of items omitted.
But I digress.
