On that fateful day when Mike was sitting on a Cocoa Beach pier playing his guitar and Scott Smith was walking by, neither one had any idea the impact they would have on each other''s life...
Three years later the two have penned dozens of hook laden pop-rock master pieces.
Though extremely prolific, 25-year-old Sharpe and 23-year-old Smith are also cautious in their decision to move forward when developing a new song.
"We know in the first 5 minutes if it''s going anywhere.
We''ve thrown away thousands of half finished songs because they didn''t feel exactly right," Says Sharpe.
It''s this sifting through countless riffs, melodies and chord structures that allow Sharpe and Smith to pull out some of best crafted compositions in pop-rock music today.
Soon after meeting the pair began gigging at pubs and honing their writing skills, they began adding members as the need for a full band to properly present their songs became evident.
Lead guitar player Mandy Rua was the first to join the duo and add his tasty licks and screaming leads to the ever-intensifying songs.
Later, classically trained Bassist Matt Coogan added his skilled-yet always rocking often funking and occasionally silky smooth-bass lines to the mix.
Columbian Drummer Paul Voteller and Ecuadorian Percussionist Mario Palacios add a hard driving and rhythmic groove to the overall sound.
This final line-up drives Shufly''s onstage crusade with a powerful combination of musical energy and world class showmanship, as well as a unique yet accessible sound that catches your ear immediately upon hearing the sounds.
