Shak is an aggregate of several musical influences. Some people hear Steely Dan (chord progressions) some hear James Brown (the rhythm section). We all have eclectic tastes in music: Miles, Fela, Funkadelic, Zorn, MMW, Geggy Tah, Dylan, Sam Rivers (Orlando''s own), and Squarepusher to name a few. You can hear fragments of our influences in our playing without spoiling the originality. What sets us apart from many bands is the variety of sounds and styles coming from the same group of people. We have a salt and sugar effect. We have a dirty, nasti rhythm section on the bottom and an ethereal, melodic sense on top. The more you listen, the more you hear.
