Sealion is a reggae collective based in Dublin and Berlin, producing roots reggae; the driving force behind Sealion is singer Ronan Lynch. Beginning life in 1998, the Sealion crew first recorded in Berlin featuring vocalist Ronan Lynch, ace drummer Tokunbo Balogun (Balogun System) and Jivan Baba on bass, with Frank Delle producing and singing backing vocals; later that summer, Frank formed Seeed, who''ve been making waves in Berlin and worldwide ever since. The rest of Spirit Live was recorded in 2000 and 2001 featuring the Irish-Jamaican Evans brothers on bass, guitars and vocals. Spirit Live was hugely influential in the Irish music scene which has since seen Sinead O Connor release a reggae covers album; the Sealion crew is currently working with Rootical Soundsystem on a new digital set for 2007; The collective is also due back in the studio in Berlin in early 2007 for the next recording project. Singer and songwriter Ronan Lynch is also a writer and activist; in 2005 he co-wrote the report on the controversial Corrib Gas field development which caused a sensation in Ireland; he is also author of a forthcoming history book on politics and evangelism in Ireland.
