Paco Benitez is a bass player/songwriter living in Madrid, Spain. Born in Cadiz in 1966 and raised in Miami, he started playing the electric bass in 1983.
Since his return to Spain, he has played for more than a hundred artists in the jazz, blues, pop and rock circuits and recorded several albums and film scores as a sideman.
He is also a longtime music educator and a contributing writer for Spain´s premier bass magazine "Bajista", where he has interviewed players like Carol Kaye, Nathan East, Billy Sheehan, Richard Bona, Jerry Jemmott, Israel Lopez "Cachao" and Fernando Saunders. Paco also teaches an annual blues seminar in Madrid (https://www.tradebit.com) and is at the present time co-writing an extensive blues method to be published soon.
"ArtesanÃa" is his first record as a leader with ten strong original compositions arranged and produced by Paco.
The musicians that have performed in "ArtesanÃa" are players from Madrid''s musical scene: Javier Paxariño, Pedro Cabredo, Lorenzo Solano, Isi Fernandez (Saxes), Robin Cooper (trumpet and flugelhorn), Javier Escribano (Trombone), Moises Sanchez, Victor Alonso, Fernando GarcÃa (Keyboards), Juan Carlos Jimenez "el niño", Antonio Toledo, Jairo Zavala, Dabas Herrera, Richie Guinea (Guitars), Helena de Alfonso (vocals, Javier Palancar (accordion), Jaime Medina, Juan Carlos Arellano "El Ruso" (percussion) and Toni Jurado on drums.
