MP3 The Paul and Sheila Smith Quartet - "Chestnuts" an offering of Standards

Brazilian, Pop, Latin, Originals and Straight-ahead Jazz Standards

12 MP3 Songs
JAZZ: Jazz Vocals, LATIN: Latin Jazz

Details:
Chestnuts is the 4th disc in our catalog and the first with a drummer in addition to Sheila''s percussion.

Michael Bluestein is the pianist, recently found touring with Boz Scaggs.

Jack Dorsey is the drummer, originally from New York. His father had a business supplying records to juke boxes.

The songs are all standards (chestnuts) that we''ve always loved, arranged by Paul and Sheila in their usual styles, ie: straight ahead, Brazilian and Latin (Afro-Cuban).

The last song on the album, "Someone" by John McLaughlin, we learned from an old James Taylor album.

We read that "Nobody Else But Me" by Jerome Kern is the last song he wrote (published?).

"How Long Has This Been Going On?" is dedicated to Judy Garland who sang it so beautifully. Judy is one of Sheila''s inspirations.

"How Deep is the Ocean?" Irving Berlin wrote after his wife of many years died. It is Paul''s favorite song.

"The Touch of Your Lips" by Ray Noble was taken from the Tony Bennett and Bill Evans recording.
