TEDDY DEANE
Teddy, a career musician, moved to San Juan Island in 2000 from Portland, Oregon where he led a 7 piece Swing Band (Swingline Cubs) for 17 years; playing an average of 90 special events yearly. He also was half of a duo (Jass Two), which played ‘20s, and ''30s music exclusively. Before that he was several years on the road with national and international touring bands including Quill, Martin Mull Magical Midget Band, The Holy Modal Rounders, and The Clamtones. He’s played on double bills with everyone from the Allman Bros. to Glen Miller to Bonnie Raitt, to Frank Zappa to Alice Cooper. He still plays locally in San Juan County WA.
As a professional musician he has over 20 commercially released recordings to his credit and over 120 of his compositions have been professionally produced. From 1980 to 1989 he composed almost exclusively for Storefront Theatre in Portland, OR where he wrote a full-length opera, 2 musicals, 3 children’s shows, 3 vaudeville shows and contributed to numerous other theatrical productions in that period. He was a member of the Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop in Los Angeles for 2 years as well and co-hosted a music-writing workshop briefly in Portland. Other compositions credits include local TV themes, numerous radio jingles and contributions to feature movies and documentaries.
“Doggone Good Time” is a combination of his own compositions and embellished standard novelty songs, which he found upbeat and entertaining. He has partnered with Jonathan Piff, extraordinary guitarist and harmony vocalist to add a very amusing lilt to this light hearted production.
