Details:
I have a testimony that can only be identified and reasoned with the saving grace of the work and redeeming power of Jesus Christ. Growing up in a Christian church and home, I had an Americanized view of Christianity and believed that I was saved at birth because I believed in Jesus Christ and my family attended church regularly. And for me, believing and attending church was simply all that was required. Having no biblical knowledge or understanding of the religion I was born into, I quickly fell into the grip and comfort of the world and all the sin that accompanies it. I began focusing more and more of my energy on myself and living a life for me. I was searching for joy and satisfaction in friends, money, sports, entertainment, and girls, hoping that they would please me. While all these things brought me temporary satisfaction for the moment, a part of me was still left unsatisfied and unfulfilled. When I was 16 years old I decided that I wanted to get baptized as a symbol of my faith. Not knowing who Jesus was, and doing it out of selfish motives, not even that could bring me happiness. I was still searching for something that would fill me up completely. Years went by and through trial and error nothing had yet satisfied my hunger. What was this I was hungering for? It seemed that when everything failed me and my life was at an all-time low, searching and searching for happiness but coming away empty handed, Jesus Christ met me where I was at and saved my life. On July 2, 2009, I accepted Jesus Christ into my heart. It was when I had nothing else to turn to (because I had tried many other things) that Jesus broke into my life and changed my heart. Having a relationship with Jesus Christ was the anecdote to my pain. The hunger that I had so long been searching for has been filled.
The transition from a lost life to a Christian (Christ centered) life did not happen overnight however. Although I was adopted up and identified as a son of God now through Jesus Christ, growth had to take place in my heart. Thank God and praise His name for the seed that He planted and the growing root that fell on good soil (Matthew 13:1-23). I now see what was keeping me from having a relationship with God and why all humanity is fallen and deserving of death (Romans 3:23, Romans 6:23). All men/women are depraved and born into sin and have a hostile mind with hatred and enmity towards a holy and perfect God (Romans 8:7, Psalm 143:2). Since the fall of Adam, and the introducing of sin into the world, we are separated from God and we don’t seek to know Him or run after Him (Romans 3:10-11). We daily spit in God’s face and choose the world. Because of this broken relationship and our imperfections, God had to introduce some sort of standard to regain communion with Him. This standard was brought forth in the Mosaic Law through the prophet Moses. This law ordered us to walk in obedience with the Lord and meet various expectations. No human could meet these standards and it was obvious to God that there had to be some sort of Redemptive plan for our sake. God came up with a plan. This rescue mission was to be one in the flesh in the form of Jesus Christ (Phil 2:5-8). He was bound in the likeness of sinful flesh but was not identified in it. He was fully human, yet fully God (Luke 2:7, Luke 3:22). Jesus Christ lived a perfect life in accordance with God’s word and walked in perfect obedience to the law. Jesus was denied by his own kind and crucified on the cross (John 19:16-42). It wasn’t the physical wrath that was taken for us that accomplished His redemptive work however. It was Jesus absorbing that wrath for sinful flesh from God the Father. Anyone who is willing to accept that work and repent (to turn away) of their sins is justified (Ephesians 2:8). Through faith in Jesus Christ and the redemptive work he performed on the cross we are now viewed as perfect. The law has been stamped on our hearts as walking in obedience with God, through faith alone in Jesus Christ. The broken relationship with God is restored through Jesus Christ (Romans 5:6-11). Glory is to God through His son Jesus Christ for providing a way out. Do you know Jesus? You can know him today! Call upon the Lord.
