New York based Pianist Claude Diallo and drummer Massimo Buonanno, two of the up & coming Swiss musicians were joined by Parisian bass player Laurent Salzard in 2007 to form the “Claude Diallo Situation”. Together they create a mix of Jazz with elements of Latin & World Music at its best! In summer 2010 the band released two new CDs “Now Then” and “Claude Diallo Situation with Andy McGhee”. Following a successful tour in Switzerland the trio was invited to perform in Asia. Among concerts in Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore and Taiwan the tour highlights were a performance at the “Taipei International Jazzfestival” and one for the Swiss President Doris Leuthard in Singapore. Earlier this year the three young European musicians were given the honor to tour Switzerland and France with tenor sax legend Andy Mc Ghee, who performed in the bands of Jazz giants such as Lionel Hampton and Woody Hermann.
In 2009 the band released their first CD "Traveling with Music" which was a live concert. This time the Claude Diallo Situation decided to go to the studio. Parts of the new CD "Now Then", which depicts an original painting of Wladimir Sagal, Claude Diallo''s grand father, was recorded in Rorschacherberg, Switzerland in July 2009. Most songs were recorded in a castle on a Fazioli master grand piano, one of the best pianos in the world, made in Italy. You can hear the intimate sound because the CD was recoded in an apartment in a castle in Switzerland. Some songs were recorded at the DRS (Swiss Radio) Studios in Zurich, Switzerland.
You can feel the bands new approach by adding different styles of Jazz to the CD. The palette goes from funky and groovy tunes to sentimental, slow ballads as well as through composed original compositions by Claude Diallo and Laurent Salzard.
