Songs of Ascent were made by the children of Israel as they made a pligrimage to Mt Zion to worship the Lord. The songs on this CD are part of a similiar journey we take as we worship. Every song is a starting point to move closer to our spiritual Mount Zion, the place where His Glory dwells. Worship is always moving us into higher realms in the Spirit.
In "I LIft My Eyes Up To You" there is an excitement as we gaze at our spiritual Mount Zion in the distance. There is a stirring in our hearts to "Praise The Lord" as we pass through the wilderness. "Lift Up Your Heads" has us at the gates as we usher in the King of Glory. In "Where You Lead" we are at the foot of the mountain beginning our climb of absolute surrender. As we climb the Lord has us wait and be still in His presence as He changes us from glory to glory. Higher and higher we climb as we continue to pause at different levels and allow His spirit to work these changes in us and establish His Kingdom in our hearts. "As I Wait," "Spirit of the Lord," and "Our Father" are from live worship services that tarry at these different levels and allow His Spirit to speak to us.
