TRIP HUNT – A LIFETIME OF MUSIC

SONGWRITER - For more than forty years, Wayne Clark Hunt III (Trip) has been writing songs. Since his first album of original songs, Song of the Free, (1977) he has released five CDs of traditional blues, folk, Americana and songs inspired by the world around him.

MUSICIAN - Having earned a music degree at University of Texas Arlington, followed by a Master’s degree in music performance at The University of Texas El Paso, he is next to magical on guitar, from powerful leads and jazz chord work to melodic Travis finger picking. On occasion he also plays banjo, mandolin, and ukulele.

SINGER – Trip’s sultry voice brings emotional confidence to his songs with sensitivity and honesty that comes from heart and soul. While his lyrics can be raucous and rowdy, they often deliver gentle and poignant messages.

PERFORMER - At age 14, his musical career began with his band in New Orleans. By age 21, Trip had traveled the US with several bands, performing in hundreds of clubs and dance halls across America. After many years of touring, Trip switched to performing solo acoustic gigs across the States. This led to university classical guitar studies, master classes, and performing classical guitar concerts for over a decade. As a working musician, Trip managed to carve out a niche playing high profile clubs and events while raising a family of three musically talented children (Matt, Phoebe, and Stephanie) and concurrently serving as director of the Thompson Conference Center at UT Austin. He has entertained audiences from Dallas to South Padre Island; from El Paso and Santa Fe to Austin and Kerrville; from Houston and Galveston to San Antonio, Corpus Christi and Rockport; and many points along the way. He has also played concerts in Mexico, Puerto Rico, Galapagos Islands, Canada, and Europe over the past three decades.

ON THE ROAD AGAIN - Trip continues performing, recording, and writing following his retirement from UT Austin in 2008, after 28 years of teaching and administration. Relocating his home from Austin to Rockport, Texas, he is living the life he imagined, windsurfing, sailing, picking and entertaining on the beautiful Texas coast.

REVIEWS:
https://www.tradebit.com Roots Album of the Month: "Trip Hunt''s finger-picking guitar playing is simply superb, with excellent vocals and a great choice of material."

Blues Revue (The Blues Authority), Michael Cote: "Hunt performs on acoustic six- and 12-string guitars, mandolin, and bass. His warm, gentle, voice echoes the spirit of his influences, particularly that of Mississippi John Hurt."

"We''ve had this album in our hands less than 24 hours and have already named it THE BLUES ALBUM OF THE YEAR. A flawless tribute to the the Early Blues Masters, performed in the traditional style. Not blues rock. Not jazzy treatments... A fitting tribute to many who have gone before, and a great celebration of living blues. This is pure, true Americana blues and it''ll make you happy... Trip Hunt''s vocals are a soothing balm... This CD will cure what ails you, and that''s a promise."

RIDE THE BLIND, 2001
"Trip Hunt sings and plays acoustic guitar, mandolin, and bass like the breeze on HWY 61 to HWY 71, with all the full tribute heart from Mississippi John Hurt to Stephen Foster. Ans man is this album popular on global radio. Easily one of the most aired albums in the RSN global pipe-lining talent pool. Recording an album is one thing. Being well-received on radio is another. This CD is like a big chunk of coal from the swamps of the old smokey blues."
