Jody Quine first discovered her passion for singing at an open mic. She closed her eyes, opened her voice and silenced the room.
And that was it, she was hooked.
As both the lead singer/co-writer for Balligomingo, and a featured vocalist/co-writer for Sleepthief, Jody is getting back to herself and writing her next solo record.
While recording her second solo release, she was asked to work on an ambient electronic pop project called Balligomingo. As one of 7 vocalists on Balligomingo''s debut record, her track, ''Purify'', was chosen by the president of BMG, Bob Jamiesom, to be the first single. Remixed by many huge dj''s including ''Gus Gus'', the song hit the Billboard dance break out charts at #3. That lead to Jody becoming the lead vocalist for Balligomingo on the subsequent tour, as well as legal 3rd partner in the group for their following releases, ''Under An Endless Sky'', ''Origins'', and ''Remix Volume One''.
Also discovered by Justin Elswick of Sleepthief, Jody was featured on many tracks for Sleepthief, garnering the first single ''Eurydice'' on the debut album ''The Dawnseeker'', and the title track on the sophomore album, ''Labyrinthine Heart''.
After many years, she is now focusing on putting her heart into her own music. "I used to date boys for song fodder", you''ll often here Quine say, "but since I met my husband I''ve been happy and lacking material to write about!". But during the journey of falling in love, getting married, and having children there is much to discover and say. Her voice beds down with the shivers under your skin. Her words will take you on a journey. Her sound is a mixture of folk, and jazz, with a whisper of rock at times.
Jody has a solid background in improv comedy and has performed at the renowned Loose Moose Theatre in Calgary, Second City in Toronto, and The Annoyance Theatre in Chicago. Her songs have appeared on many television shows including ''Queer As Folk'' and ''Dark Blue''. Her fan base spreads across the globe and fans in Europe most likely will recognize her name before those on her home soil of Canada. She has had videos in regular rotation on MTV Australia and the UK, and has toured the US. Her presence is captivating and electric, her stories entertaining and edgy. Live, she is an experience.
