During the day I am an assistant manager at a grocery store. In my spare time I write songs and perform them at a local coffee shop. Why do I spend the time and effort playing guitar, practicing, and writing songs, Great question. I wish I had a great answer.
I started playing guitar and taking lessons back in the late 70''s. I have taken guitar lessons off an on since that time. My goal was to play in a praise band at church. I have played in three church bands. The church I am going to now has an access of guitar players. I decided to try to play my guitar in coffee shops. God opened the door and I walked through it. I have been playing in coffee shops for the last couple years.
Bob Dylan said, " I started writing songs becasue nobody else was writing songs that I could sing." Amen, Bob. That is how I felt. I started writing original material to play at the coffee shop. No one could say, "That song doesn''t sound like the original." I try to write songs about experiences from my life.
I call my song writing style. Faction. What is faction? Faction is songs based on real life that are spiced up with fiction. Remember, I work at a grocery store. Not the most exciting and glamorous job in the world. Maybe I should change my song writing style to Spice. Ha! Ha!. I hope that you enjoy my songwriting and the music.
