Back for her sophomore album,"Summer Rain", Shyrita is poised to make an impact through worship in 2011 with the help of her husband/producer, Cornelius "Moses" Billups. Shyrita''s debut album "Only Believe" saw its success with her single "Your Praise" climbing to the top of the charts on https://www.tradebit.com in 2006, peaking at #1.
After completing her first album, Shyrita toured west Alabama promoting Christ through song at local churches free of charge. When asked what she wanted people to take from her first album and tour, she responded, "Freedom from tradition and the worries of what peoples opinion of them would bring. I want people to know the only opinion that matters can be found in the Word of God and by developing a very personal relationship with Him. Also spiritual healing. People need to experience the loving side of God. He wants us to love Him, not be afraid of Him. We can have fun and praise God at the same time. Don''t get it twisted, God requires us to be respectful and obedient to His Word, but He wants us to do it happily not grievingly. Thats the message I wanted to convey throughout my first album and tour."
Shyrita has worked with and along side some very prominent people in the music industry. Bobby Jones from BET, gospel quartet mogul Minister George Stewart, Pastor Donnie McClurkin, and Byron Cage to name a few. When asked of her experience of meeting and opening for some of the gospel industry''s major names she replied, "First of all very honored, met some very ginuine people behind the scenes, mainly Tracey Artis. She played a major role in my marriage. She was very encouraging, demanding, but encouraging. Most people would''ve gotten caught up in the hype, but you have to remember that the gift God has given you will make room for you and not to forget about God once you get in that room. All in all , it was a very humbling experience."
Shyrita has worked with some very talented producers before her husband began producing, namely Sam Addams. "Sam is one of the most musically gifted people you will ever come across. He was a blessing to me and my husband by producing my entire first album and part of my second one. We would sit in the studio and watch Sam make some of the most beautiful music with ease. And my engineer, Jim Corriher, I can''t say enough about him. He takes care of all the technical things we have no clue about. He is continually being a blessing to us."
"Now, this thing with my husband producing has been an amazing experience. When we met he didn''t know anything about music and one day he sat down at the keyboard and played a few notes and recorded them into the keyboard. Those notes later became one of my most popular songs in ''Your Praise.'' We took the keyboard to the studio and let Sam Addams remake it and the rest is history. But to watch my husband go from knowing absolutely nothing at all to where he is now with this music is almost unbelievable. God has really been blessing us and been with us in our ministry."
Shyrita says people can expect a very intense style of worship with this next album. "Be prepared to hear a variety in the style of worship with this album. I pray that God will touch hearts and minds through the gifts he has blessed my family with. There will be everything from worship to christian rap cuts with my Big bruh CA$H to passionate praise and inspirational pieces. I''m trying to set the table with this one. With help from my "DADDY" of course."
