Songs from the Moon Shed. (Scots Irish Fusion).

Randall Stephen Hall launched an unusual new CD called “Songs from the
MoonShed”. 21 tracks of Songs and Poems in the finest Ulster Scots Irish.

The launch took place at THE BLACK BOX, Hill Street Belfast,
on the 23rd of September 2010.

Stephen performed alongside Rohan Young (Bodhrán), Catherine Sands (Flute,
Squeeze Box and Whistle), Michael Sands (Banjo), Barry Tipping (Guitar) and John
McKeever (Guitar). The Show was introduced by Gerry Anderson and fully enjoyed
by the 150 strong audience, who whooped and cheered to Stephen’s songs.

The following morning Stephen and the “Moon Shed Orchestra” came in for a chat
and to play some songs on Gerry’s Show. 24th September. BBC Radio Ulster.

Since the 28th of January Stephen has had significant airplay on The Gerry Anderson
Show, BBC Radio Foyle, Radio Ulster. Listeners have responded to songs like
“The Wee Wee Man”, “Biscuits”, “Get Your Pig On” “The Lang Staine” and more.

Biography.

Born 1957 Belfast. Degree in Graphic Design. Played in Harp Bar at the height of the
Punk era. Worked in local Art and Design. Became Freelance Illustrator in 1988 with
clients in Belfast, Dublin and Glasgow.

1996 produced “The Giant’s Causeway” storybook. Other self-published books
followed along with a Giant’s Causeway animated DVD in 2005 in English, Irish,
Ulster Scots and Scots Gaelic. “The Duck” followed in 2008 ( A re-telling of The
ugly Duckling based in Ballycastle. In English and Irish.) Stephen began to get
invitations to schools, arts and community groups to tell stories from 1997 onward.

Working around Ireland and as far a field as Bologna, Italy, Gothenburg, Sweden and
Sioux Valley Native American Reserve, Manitoba, Canada.

Throughout his adult life Stephen has continued to write songs, stories and poems
many of which have been influenced by life in the North of Ireland. This recent
flowering of work shows his capacity for creative content, meaning and inventive
humour.

Significantly bridging the boundaries between English, Irish and Ulster Scots,
Stephen ploughs an unusual furrow.
