Just like many musicians before him, Eric Contractor composed his first opus (entitled "Chicken and-A-Lickin,’") at the mere age of four years old (think of W.A. Mozart). Following this initial musical impulse, Eric continued to sing along to the Mamas and the Papas, Ella Fitzgerald, and Motown songs throughout his childhood. Eric discovered the emergence of a mature deep voice when he was fourteen, and soon after began to write songs with his friends. For his first public performance, Eric sang "God Bless America." Roses purchased for ironic and mocking intentions were showered on the stage for an official coronation. He delivered, and from that moment on, Eric knew that performing was his destiny. At New York University, Eric studied piano, voice, and composition and upon leaving college, he passionately resumed his songwriting. Since, Eric has been honing his craft as musician, songwriter and performer. As a true product of globalization, Eric (with his mixed Euro/W.A.S.P-Indian background) naturally imbues his work with all kinds of musical influences. He sings with a versatile voice that is lightly inspired by classical techniques but leans towards folk, pop, indie-rock, and even some blues. He aims to write memorable melodies that reflect the clarity of the classical composers or even the Beatles. He is inspired by greats of all sorts from Goethe to Thom Yorke to Bruce Springsteen. In this age of instant communication and instant connection, people can be inspired by music from all corners of the planet. Eric hopes that his music will express the emotions, longings, and wishes of all kinds of people, and honestly portrays their current world. Eric will continue to form and synthesize his personal vision of music and performance that he will deliver to the world in the coming years and decades. Eric''s debut album "Night Escape" was produced by Dan McLoughlin, recorded in the summer of 2010, and released on April 30th, 2011.
