MP3 Thomas Ventiquattro II - Horizon Eyes

Tom 24 presents an intriguing musical odyssey, cruising back through time...somewhere between Bee Gees 1st and Neil Young''s Harvest album...melodic and refreshing...hard to categorize, but easy to enjoy.

15 MP3 Songs
EASY LISTENING: Love Songs, FOLK: Folk Pop

Details:
In the spring of 2006, Earl Beecher of Morrhythm/Outstanding Records, urged Thomas Ventiquattro II (Tom 24) to release a second album under the Morrhythm label. "Horizon Eyes" then became the follow-up to the well-reviewed 2004 release, ''Twilight Blue Excursion."

Studio producer, Dan Wills, again performs impressive background instrumental work, highlighting the vocals and guitars of Tom 24. The opening number, "Peaceful And Mine," sets the mellow tone for the next 14 easy-listening tracks. A mid-disc dose of comedy jumps out in a bossa nova beat with "Kick Your But Habits." "Ecology" offers a departure from Ventiquattro''s usual writing and performing style, revealng early ''70s influence from Neil Young. Several selections, including the title cut, "Horizon Eyes," hint at the stylings of pre-1975 work by America and the Bee Gees.

Tom says, "A lot of these songs are re-writes of tunes from my high school and college days, from 1968 to 1977." He adds, "After choosing the songs and the track progression for this CD, I was surprised by the smooth flow of the album. I give tons of credit to studio magician, Dan Wills. He made this project come alive."

Tom 24 and Dan Wills have been working together since 1996, employing Dan''s Slab City studio to record an ever-expanding catalog of Tom''s original material. This duo does not normally perform live together. Tom books his road show as a vocal and guitar soloist, while Dan (on bass guitar) leads the 4-man rock band, "Slab City." Aside from these performing differences, their collaboration effort works very nicely, here.

Listeners will be challenged to assign a genre to this music. Elements of folk, pop, R&B, rock and country, weave an enigmatic tapestry throughout the disc. But, forget the classification. Just kick back, relax...and enjoy!
