Details:
This is a 74 minute long track. The Metropolitan Museum of Art played this in their facility.

This piece was performed entirely live in 2 layers. The top layer is made from a computer sound source that was originally devised to aid blind people to "see" by converting images to sound. The artist worked with this program until he was able to control it according to his musical "vision." The sound is made up of pitched "blips" that cycle over a 5 second loop. There is no traditional meter or tempo. Nor is there any relation to a traditional 12 tone scale. It is through repetition of the randomness that beats and melodies develop. The tones cycle over the 5 second loop, gradually being added to and subtracted from in such an organic manner that by the time you realize the rhythm has changed, you have no idea how it happened.

The bottom layer is made up completely of sub bass frequencies that are virtually inaudible unless you have a subwoofer.

Background Music for Foreground People is just that: It is designed to be played at low volumes and listened to subliminally.

Review from ChainDLK: "it is interesting to listen to this track as hints of melodic lines and portions of what seem logical beats are randomly generated and continuously warped. If you like Staalplaat releases this one is definitely for you."
