Formed in November of 2003, Baxter is an assembly of three musicians from Southern California brought together by a deep love for making music. In their short time together, this trio has well established a musical arsenal built from each of their varied musical backgrounds. Matt Baxter developed his guitar, vocal, and songwriting abilities over fifteen years of playing in bands and worshiping the music of Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Stevie Wonder, and The Beatles. James Haley honed his rock solid drum stylings alongside his appreciation for bands like Nirvana, Incubus and 311. On the bass guitar, Shane Gibbons forged his way from the metal of such bands as Black Sabbath and early Metallica.
Individually, these three would not have sat anywhere near each other in the high school cafeteria. Together, however, they create one hell of a sound combining rock music with a pop sensibility and an authentic sincerity that satisfies the tastes of a wide range of listening audiences. Don''t be surprised to find teenieboppers, thieir punk rock older brothers, and their classic rock parents all enjoying themselves at a Baxter show.
