Diluting The Gene Pool is a highly eclectic album featuring music and lyrics that change mood and intensity from song to song. The album infuses diverse influences with droning, foreboding melodies, dark lyrics, multifaceted drum work, distorted and acoustic guitars, and on some songs, rock and punk overtones. Resulting in an avant-garde LP, that is somewhat reminiscent of early 70s heavy rock, combined with a shadowy, dense, metal sound.

From the ritual sacrifice album cover, to the comical vulgarity of the song Strap On, to the epic manifestation of the opening track A Priori, Diluting The Gene Pool is a diverse CD that fans of heavy music should add to their collection.

Recorded and mastered at Insane Sounds Studio in South Florida, co-producer and engineer Marc Karmatz nailed the bands signature sound with major label sound quality. The preview streams provided on this page do not do the recording justice. Osiris Rising spent 9 months recording and mastering this album, and perfecting every detail!

Osiris Risings twisted depiction of life is painted perfectly on their debut CD. The album regrettably became a tribute to their lead guitar player, who died just 5 months after its release in 2005, at the age of 23.

"Ibarras voice echoes somewhere between Maynard Keenan of Tool and Journeys Steve Perry -- really -- a rich, almost romantic croon that quickly snaps into an angsty bark"

Jonathan Zwickel - New Times Magazine - Aug, 4, 2005

About the artist:

Osiris Rising was an independent alternative metal from South Florida U.S. who did not reach an international audience until after the death of their lead guitar player, Joseph Robert Arthur (1982 to 2006).

Their music was for the most part, non-genre specific and difficult to classify, as their writing style changed from song to song. The band was created in 2002 by Fort Lauderdale underground music scene musicians guitarist Joe Arthur (aka Leviathan), drummer Brian Vorisek (aka VoR), and Peruvian born vocalist Michael Ibarra. Bass player Paul Arthur (aka Papa Middy) joined the band in 2003.

Osiris Rising turned down an opportunity with Drive Thru Records in 2004 to pursue an indie CD release. Their notorious live shows and unique sound earned them a prominent spot in the Florida rock club circuit.

Their debut album Diluting The Gene Pool has received international airplay on college radio, internet radio, POD casts, and most notably on Radio Belgrade in Serbia and Radio Free Iraq.

Twenty three year old guitar player and main song writer Joseph Robert Arthur, died in a car accident just weeks after the band had begun pursuing a record deal with Atlantic Records early in 2006.
