Bennett''s History In A Nutshell!
The story so far....................................
I grew up sitting in my Dad''s office listening to all different kinds of music. My dad was a huge fan of music and exposed me to all kinds of stuff, Beegees, Mozart, John Denver, Mike and the Mechanics and The Beatles just to name a few. It wasn''t until i was about 14 that i discovered Heavy Metal & Hard Rock for myself.
Unfortunately, my Dad passed away when i was 16. I channelled all my emotion from this time into learning guitar, teaching myself bands like Motley Crue, Guns n Roses, Skid Row etc. Before i knew it i was getting quite good and thought it was time to join a band
That band was Sydney based Heavy Metal act ''Sanctorum''. "I remember meeting the guys from Sanctorum whilst we were all lining up for Megadeth tickets at the local shopping mall. It was about 3am and i was playing Holy Wars on a nylon string guitar. Thats when they asked me if i wanted to join the band!"
After playing with Sanctorum for 18months I decided it was time to journey down a new path, time to play Acoustic guitar for a while. I played with a few different guys but nothing real came of it.
It wasnt until 1999 that I made my first trip into the recording studio. My first self titled EP, recorded at Sound Dog Recording Studio''s in Stanmore, Sydney was produced by Myself and Stewart Havill and was released in January 2000. Containing 6 tracks ranging from the hardrocking opener, Potato Man, to the intimate acoustic ballad From Above, this record was just scratching at the surface of my varied and unique style.
After playing many solo acoustic shows over the course of 2000 I hooked up with Jared Wineera to become the acoustic duo, Shadow. Unfortunately after a year or so of playing Jared packed up and went to Canada for a year.
So I went back to the solo gigs until one day I met up with Childhood friend and violinist, Simon Mesker. Simon introduced Mal and Simon B to the fold and InTheory was born. InTheory played many successful shows during 2003. I then relocated to Melbourne in Jan of 2004 and the band had to split up.
Now i''m back, bigger and better then ever. I have a new band here in Melbourne. Michael on Drums, Courtney on Lead Guitar and Jon on Bass. We''re working hard to promote the new EP you''re about to buy and we trust you''ll enjoy the songs.
Full Length Album is due out Mid 2006.
