11 MP3 Songs
FOLK: Modern Folk, FOLK: Political

Details:
Born and raised in Memphis Tennessee, David Benton grew up listening to Johnny Cash, Three Dog Night, Black Oak Arkansas and a plethora of local Blues/Rock artist. As a young adult in the Navy he discovered songwriting gold in John Prine and Bruce Springsteen.
"The first album I ever bought was at a Big Star grocery store in Memphis in about 1968. It was Johnny Cash, "Folsom Prison Blues"...I think I paid 99 cents for it."
Times have changed much since then but the deep-rooted artistry of pure songwriting shines through in the music of David Benton. With wit and passion the lyrics ride an honest voice and talented finger picking like a slow train through the countryside.

Although music has always been a big part of his life, the album "Heartland" was not released until 2004 when David found the corporate world was lacking enough oxygen to sustain life. The song, "At the End of the Day", somewhat chronicles that experience. His life now is set to the music he loves.

David Benton, humidity for a dry soul...
