Details:
Delaware-based Braxton Hicks released its first recording, a 5-song EP titled ''Dissolve'', approximately one year after its 1996 formation. Originally a quartet, the band released its first full-length CD, ''Where the Sky Meets the Ground,'' in late 1998.
Founding members Carrie Baith, Bill Bush and Roger Hillis underwent several lineup changes before solidifying a six-piece line-up. The addition of Michael Fernandez, Chris Lausch and David Manges provided three more background voices to the music, as well as the addition of violin and acoustic guitar.
In 2002, Braxton Hicks finds its music compared to that of guitar-based underground alternative acts (Magnapop, Ivy, Blake Babies), melodic songwriters (Aimee Mann, 10,000 Maniacs) and female-fronted Top-40 groups (the Corrs, Sixpence None the Richer).
Braxton Hicks'' roadwork has included industry events such as the Philadelphia Music Conference, South by Southwest, the Cutting Edge Music Conference and the Route 1 Music Conference.
The band''s full-length sophomore was released in March 2002. They are featured in Sound and Vision Magazine''s June 2002 issue.
