MP3 Dallin Applebaum - King's Highway

Female fronted experimental pop rock.

4 MP3 Songs
ROCK: 90''s Rock, POP: Piano

Details:
Drawn to the piano at age three, Dallin Applebaum can''t remember a time in her life before music. "I''d like to think that music is my first language because I''ve always heard it and spoken it," she says. Trained as a classical pianist, Dallin was weaned on Chopin, Bach, and Beethoven. At the same time, growing up outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, exposure to her parents'' favorite music – artists such as The Beatles, Billy Joel, Led Zeppelin, Sting, Steely Dan, The Eagles, and Sting – infused Dallin with a lifelong love for classic rock and well-crafted pop.

Music moves Dallin. Any kind of music, as long as it''s emotionally honest, gets deep inside her and takes over. You can tell when she performs her own piano-based, harmony-laced pop songs – solo or backed by her band. You can feel it when she covers artists such as Radiohead, one of her big current influences. And you can see it when she listens to music – "behind the glass" producing other musicians or just sitting in the audience at a club in New York or Philadelphia, tapping her feet, nodding her head, happily absorbing the language she knows best. Music becomes her.

Dallin began writing songs at the age of thirteen. Throughout high school she performed in local venues, gaining a following and generating critical acclaim. For her, writing meaningful, honest music is an opportunity to grow as a human being. Influenced by contemporary artists including Fiona Apple, Jon Brion, Silverchair, and Patty Griffin, Dallin crafts pop music that strives to be something more. "I want to write a great pop song," she says. "And then use that song as a starting point for something bigger."

These days, as a music technology major at New York University, Dallin''s sharpening her songwriting and performance skills while mastering recording technology. She''s also busy on the New York City music scene performing at the Bitter End, Sidewalk Café, the Bowery Poetry Club, Tribeca Rock Club, CBGB''s Gallery, and C-Note.

During the summer of 2006, Dallin grew as an artist and a performer during her month-long weekly residency at Milkboy Café in Ardmore, PA. Dallin appeared Sunday evenings with a host of friends – members of New York City''s Funky Butter, sing-songwriters Seth Kallen, Shayne Wagman and Simon Apple – playing original music, covers, and a special all-Radiohead set.

Currently Dallin is a part of the young and talented Philadelphia based band, Funky Butter. Her CDS can be purchased here on https://www.tradebit.com or at Funky Butter or solo shows.
