Details:
This album, I Belive In America came about because I love this country. I am the daughter of two veterans. I was born in the St. Albans naval hospital. I was raised overseas and I''ve lived in places with martial law.

Last summer I wrote a song for the miners when they were trapped in the hole. I found myself praying for them, "Bring, Em Home, Lord" and I ran to my piano to make up a song about it. One miner made it out alive, blessed be.

Now the song has taken on a new meaning. I want to unite the red states and the blue states with this song. I want to hear everyone singing "Bring ''Em Home, Lord" together, praying for our soldiers and their families. Praying for our country. Prayer works and miracles happen.

So we created the Peace Prayer tour and cut this song as a merchandising piece to support the cost of the tour. And then I realized I had more I wanted to say.

When I wrote I Believe in America after 9/11, everyone was writing their "put a boot in their ass" songs and it disturbed me. I live in upstate New York and I was here when the buildings came down and I remember the fear that our bridges were next and we wouldn''t be able to get back home across that big river.

For almost a year, like a deer in headlights I couldn''t write anything about it. One day I said to myself, "What can you say? What DO you believe?" And the answer came to me. I BELIEVE IN AMERICA. I realized Americans always do the right thing eventually. We don''t stay snookered for long -- be it the war, the environment, or the global climate.

So I wrote the song, "I Believe In America" to be a patriotic anthem to the greatest country in the world. It''s simple. It''s sweet. And it says it all. (p.s. it has been translated into Spanish -- write me if you want the translation.)

And then I realized I also wanted "Twenty-One Guns" included on this album.

Harry Moore and I wrote "Twenty-One Guns" together to celebrate the life of a veteran who loved his country. Harry Moore (a veteran with a son in the Marines) has made his transition but he asked me to change the lyrics before he crossed over and I did. He wanted this song to celebrate the life of someone who loved their country so much they would die for freedom.

And that''s what this album is all about. Whatever our politics, we are free to speak our mind. Free to vote for whomever we wish. Free to sing the kind of songs we want to sing. And we''re free to pray. I Believe in America!
