"With superb songwriting and an equally fine delivery, Redletter could become one of Boston''s finest musical commodities" - Metronome Magazine
After performing & recording under the name Redletter for 4 years, the band now known as The Break Mission have changed more than just their name. Recently signed to NYC start-up RoHo Records, the band releases their new album, produced by Dan McLoughlin (Push Stars, Buffalo Tom, Juliana Hatfield), in the Fall of 2005. The album features 11 new tracks of driving, atmospheric pop, and displays an evolution in the band''s perspective and creativity. "RoHo Records is excited to be working with Redletter," states RoHo founder and President Bill Carey, "they are a tremendous find with a singular sound." Redletter have been forging new ground in the Boston pop scene since 2001, having played with acts such as The Push Stars, Glenn Tilbrook (of Squeeze), Duncan Sheik, and Loveless, just to name a few. The signing with RoHo comes on the heels of a very successful 2004 campaign during which they released the highly accl! aimed EP "The Spirit and The Chemicals," competed in the 26th annual WBCN Rock n'' Roll Rumble, and performed at both the CMJ and NEMO music festivals. "Their execution is flawless and punchy." (Z, The Noise) The hook-driven guitar lines and soft piano ballads draw comparisons to bands like Coldplay and Pete Yorn, but it is easy to detect a distinctive sound or emotional outpouring that is inherently and unmistakably their own. The band is Matt Hershey (drums), Jeff Knowlton (guitar, piano, vocals), Dave Murray (guitar), and Richey Tally (bass), and after four years together, The Break Mission is currently enjoying its highest sense of live chemistry and willingness to reach larger audiences.
