Brett has been playing music for over ten years. He began playing drums at the age of 14, and in 8th grade started playing in a garage band with Jake Krull called Disposable Trashcan. Brett, after playing with friends for most of junior high, met up with another of Midland''s most promising and talented musicians, Dave Kellan. Brett and Dave started jamming in Brett''s garage for a while until finally establishing the band, Everslacking. Playing Green Day & Nirvana covers were the building blocks of an adolescent garage band, but Brett was soon ready to play something with more depth and emotion. While drumming with Everslacking for most of high school, Brett began to teach himself how to play the guitar and wrote a couple of songs. Everslacking broke up but Dave Kellan progressed in his style, finding a love for the blues and began establishing what would become one of the tri-cities most powerful blues bands. Meanwhile, Brett landed a gig playing drums for a blues band called Jonnie Bert & the Blues Cruise. This was Brett''s first professional band and at the age of 17 he was playing all over Michigan. After a couple of years, Dave called Brett to see if he might be interested in starting a three piece blues rock band called Gutbucket with bass player, Jake Krull. The three began playing intensively throughout 1999 and into 2000, and recorded their debut album in three days which captured the powerful energy that is Gutbucket. As they played around the tri-cities, Gutbucket received a great deal of attention. Winning an award for ''best blues band deserving wider recognition'' at the review music awards, Gutbucket went on to play at the "Rock ''n'' Blues Fest" at Salt River Acres. Dave & Brett continued to write songs together and play the local venues. However, after three years they realized their musical differences, parted ways but continued to have success in their respective musical careers. Brett polished his song writing as well as singing and guitar skills and in early January of 2005, began work on his solo debut album, "Stereo" at Big Bear studios in Midland. Brett chose to play most of the music on this album including drums, guitar, piano, congas, bass, vocals and some vocal harmonies. Not only were the music and lyrics written by Brett, he also produced the album himself, along with the genius of Rick Armstrong of Big Bear. Brett''s musical experiences have made him the musician he is today and he will continue to write and play music from his mind, heart and soul.
